This is a PHP script that parses the entire HTML of a Youtube video to get any video thumbnail it can find. If you have multiple videos in a page, it would get them all.

Have you tried to use the Youtube API? I found this thread that might be of use to you. It's essentially the same question you asked, but with the difference that you don't want just the image, but the full embed code. Maybe this could help.
